EARTH DAY 2021

Today is EARTH DAY 2021. Earth day is in its 51st year and is held annually with events focused on celebrating our environment and raising awareness about environmental issues and encouraging people to adopt a greener way of life.

We still may be limited in our ability to celebrate in large gatherings, but there are still ways to take action, safely… even virtually.

GET OUTSIDE:

Take a walk or go for a hike and appreciate all that nature has to offer.

BIKE OR WALK TO WORK:

Not only will this help to reduce your carbon footprint, but at the same time you’ll get a little exercise.

PLANT A TREE:

When you plant a tree, you’re doing more than just beautifying an area. Trees help to produce oxygen and filter out pollutants in the air.

PICK UP LITTER:

Wherever you find garbage or debris today, pick it up. If you’re going for a walk, take along a small bag to collect litter. You may be surprised as to how quickly you’ll fill it up.

SWAP OUT YOUR CHEMICAL CLEANERS FOR GREEN ONES:

Replace your cleaning agents that have harmful chemicals for natural alternatives. If you have troubling finding some, just go online where you’ll find several natural alternative cleaning ideas and recipes.

ENCOURAGE RECYCLING:

If you haven’t already, set up a recycling bin next to your trash. If you want to take it a little further, set up one for plastic bottles and cans, one for paper and one for glass containers. Don’t forget to return your recyclable bottles for a little extra cash.

BUILD A BIRD HOUSE:

This does not have to be fancy, in fact use recycled materials such as old cardboard boxes, a mike carton or gallon jug, or even an egg carton.

GO ON AN EARTH DAY SCAVENGER HUNT:

See how many different plants and trees you can discover.
