QUICK & EASY DIY PROJECTS

It’s been a great summer. You and your family have spent as much time as possible being outdoors, exploring, traveling, playing and soaking in as much fun as possible. But now you feel like you need to take care of a few home projects. Well, here’s a handful of quick and easy DIY projects that you’ll enjoy and should take almost no time at all to complete.

ENHANCE YOUR ENTRYWAY:

You don’t need to go overboard, unless you want to. It’s amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do to the front door. If you do want to take it a step further, and make the door ‘pop,’ install new wall sconces on either side of the door.

SEAL THE DECK:

The dry, summer weather has put a strain on your deck. With the slightly cooler temperatures, this is a good time to thoroughly clean it and apply a thin coat of sealant to protect it against the harsh winter coming up. The best part… it will be ready for you to enjoy next spring.

DRY YOUR HERBS:

August is a great month to begin drying and freezing your home-grown herbs for winter use. Basil, parsley and dill do well when frozen. It’s best to dry sage, oregano and mint.

UPDATE CABINET & DRAWER HARDWARE:

Replacing your kitchen bathroom and/or laundry room cabinet and drawer hardware may be the simplest, yet most satisfying DIY project. This can be inexpensive and take just a few hours and make them look brand new.

UPGRADE YOUR LIGHTING:

If you haven’t done so already, swap out your old, worn-out existing lights with new energy-efficient ones. This may seem somewhat expensive, but in the long-run the new lights will save you money on energy costs. You might also want to take this opportunity to replace other lights in your home that simply don’t reflect yours or the home’s style.

Finally, don’t forget to review your homeowner’s insurance policy. Regular review of your policy  is an important part of that maintenance because it provides financial protection in the event of a natural disaster, accident or other incident resulting in damage to your home.
